Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! As I say "until next year" to the holidays, I look forward to the many things to come. I'm going to be joining the spouses group for DH squadron. I hope to be a great asset for the spouses and families of our airmen. Haley will be finishing the first semester of 6th grade homeschooling. We are looking to surpass 6th grade during the second semester and hopefully start the 7th. Aim high;). I also look forward to new classes coming to Michaels this Spring. There will be a couple technique classes that will be added to the class list. It hasn't been officially rolled out so I can't give any details but I am so anxious to share them with you. Until then, I look forward to hosting Crop Night on Jan 15th from 3:00-8:45pm. Wow! 6 hours of scrapping fun. I hope to see those of you who are in the area in attendance.

Today I led the demo for the Pinewood Derby cars. I did some research on it the day before so I would know something about them when I did the demo. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it is a event the Boy Scouts of America hold every year. I was able to make the pennant and display some products. Unfortunately, I didn't have any boy scouts come in to participate in the demo. Now that I am more knowledgable I can better prepare next year by trying to get some scouting packs to participate. Here is a picture of the products that were displayed and the pennant that I made.



To make use of my time that I had during the demo, I made a couple of cards for Valentines. I wanted to try and promote my scrapbook classes. The cards came out pretty cute in my opinion. They were really simple and took few supplies.



Both cards were made using products from K&Company, the Valentines die-cut cardmaking pad and a pack of die-cut cardstock. Other supplies were: Tombow adhesive runner, EKSuccess scallop edge punch, foam adhesive, and the Basic Narrows ribbon.

All in all, it was a good day for the demo. I learned a lot about the Boy Scouts and Pinewood Derby. I was also able to generate quite a bit of interest for the classroom program at Michaels.

Tomorrow? Mmmmm....I'll be posting some projects with my new Cricut cartridges.

Almost there!

Hey there everyone! We are only 3 days away from Christmas! Can you believe it? So much has been going on. So much to see and do. Last night I took my oldest, Haley, and her friend Emma to Borders. They each had fun perusing the aisles. Giggling as all little girls do! I went on to shop for some gifts for the babies and found myself in the magazine section. After a quick lookover (the store was closing in 10 minutes) my eyes came upon a publication that I always adore, Digital Studio, by Somerset Studio.



What caught my eye was using my iPhone to create digital art. This got my attention because this magazine always has such beautiful art. I took the magazine home, read the article, downloaded the apps, and here is what I came up with.



I love my very first creation! I'm so excited and can't wait to create more art on my iPhone!

Unsuspecting...

Yesterday we met Jason on his lunch to scope out The Portola Plaza where a friend of ours wants us to take her family portraits. They have a beautiful Christmas tree in the lobby that we'll be using as a background. Naturally I had my family stand in to take practice shots. Out of all of the pictures I took with them looking at me, the best one was one that I took in between the "posed" shots. You never know when the best shots are going to happen!

One down....

I just took a look at my blog and realized how long it's been since I've posted here. OMG, how the time flies when the holidays are upon us! Well, I got one project done and shipped off today. It was actually several projects for my aunty. She will have the cutest little pups on the block when they get the Santa hats that I made for them.


Of course, aunty needed a Santa hat of her own to match her babies.



Last but not least, a pair of crocheted slippers for her MIL.



One project down and more to work on tonight to send off tomorrow. Santa's little elves are so busy at this time of the year. This particular elf just loves this time if year. More to come from Santa's outpost at the Funkhauser house. I won't be posting pics as what I will be working on will be for someone who reads my blog but I hope to post pics of another project.

December is here...

December is here and Christmas is in full swing. Yesterday we even did some post-Christmas shopping. I know you're thinking, "What the heck?". Well, we went and purchased our wreath container to store it in when the holiday is done. Last year we went to get one after all was said and done. They were sold out of them. We had to store the beautiful wreath that Mikes mom, Renee, made for us in the cardboard box she sent it in.



Now it has it's own storage case to keep it pretty for many years to come.

Of course, we had to make a pit stop at Starbucks on the way out. Here are the girls waiting for mommy while she gets her fix.


Here is a picture I took just because. I love the way Hipstamatic makes the pictures look. It's funny how that with all of the advancement in technology to make our pictures all beautiful and crisp, we tend to adore the "old fashioned, vintage" look and try to recreate it.



I just love how this picture turned out!

Our Advent Calendar

Hey there everyone! Hopefully everyones day is going well. It's really starting to feel like the holidays today. It's rainy and very cold here in Monterey today. It's really time to get into gear with our holiday crafting. I finished one project today. What can you make with....



Bottles of $1.00 value glitter glue.......



...a bundle of bamboo sticks.....



...and a bunch of $.79 felt stockings?

Well, you make an advent calendar! Here's my finished project.




I can't wait until December 1st comes around and the girls get to start to find goodies in those little stockings.

I'm working on a countdown calendar for work using the Cricut. I'll post pictures of at project when it's done tonight. The girls are currently helping me make a hand wreath for Thanksgiving. So hopefully we'll have that done by tonight too. Especially since Thanksgiving is in a couple of days and our friends will be in town tomorrow. Not to mention that I still need to clean up all of my craft stuff off of the dining table. I know, i should have all of at stuff in the craft room but it's so much better to craft when I have my family around me rather than in solitude. Well, back to crafting and I hope your day is wonderful.

Back in the groove!

Hey all, I am getting back in the groove with some holiday crafting. 'Tis the season handcrafted and heartfelt gifts. I just love being able to pick out just the right crafts to suit my family and friends. My girls are starting to get into the swing of things starting with some Thanksgiving crafting. This morning they got started with making some fun foam turkeys.




I've been working on designing out Santa's hats. I can't wait until they are all finished. Here is a sneak peek.



One down, five more to go. This time of the year it seems like we're counting down to some kind of event constantly. I love this time of year just because of that. Yes time flies by, but the excitement that builds up to the holidays are the best. The greatest reward is to see my girls faces as they light up with excitement when they come down the stairs to see that Santa Clause has visited while they were sleeping. Oooh...I can hardly stand the wait!

Tomorrow is a big day for me at Michaels. 5 full hours of demos and make-it-take-it's. It should be fun. If you're in the area you should come by and see me.

Okay, I got a little side tracked thinking about all the upcoming excitement. Back to crafting. I got a bunch of fall/Thanksgiving crafts for the three girls to do. I'll post more pics as they finish them. Hopefully by this time next week the dining room will be brimming with the festive crafts.
