100 Day Inspiration

Hi there,
Long time no see huh?  Well, I'm getting back in the groove and hopefully I don't lose it.  If I do, oh well because that means life is happening.  My littles and not so littles love making life happen.  Just like my disbelief that 100 days of the schoolyear has already came and went.  Whew!  Little Zoey had an assignment to collect 100 things and find a clever way to display it.  As in true Tara fashion, I waited until the last minute to help her complete her task.  Tsk, tsk.  Anyways, if it wasn't for procrastination, inspiration for this project would have fell by the wayside and in enter Pinterest to the rescue.  Friday night Zoey decided to have her way with a few inkpads and my circle punch.  She had tons of fun colorizing the paper, getting inky, and punching out the circles.  The idea was born.  She was gonna ink up a couple pieces of white cardsotck and punch out 100 circles.  The inking stage was a blast.
The punching out the circles was but her teeny hands got tired after about 20 circles.  I forgot to take pictures of that process but here is one of the result of inking and punching.

Then she separated her circles into groups of ten.

She then threaded the set of ten circles onto lengths of yarn.

This was when I helped her out and tied all strips of circles onto chenille stems to fashion a mobile.

She was so very proud of her project.  She didn't fall far from the crafting tree gene pool!
Here she is on her way to school with her project.

Tomorrow I will post my scrapbook page I created to document Zoeys project.  I used the leftovers from Zoeys project to create my background.  Until tomorrow.  Happy crafting!

Getting inky with it!!!

Haha...I thought that title was funny;). Anywho.....yes, I am "getting inky with it"! I'm sitting here at my dining table inking up some leaves I cut out on my Cricut.

The Recollections Value Paper pack from Michaels called Spice Market is so pretty. I'm using Gathered Twigs and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks. I'm also using some of the colors from the Stampin' Up's 2009 In Colors.

Who knew those .49 sponge brushes from the craft store would make great distressing tools. Guess I'm watching for when they go on sale 20 for $1. Heehee!!!!! Okay, so this is the second post for today. I'm on a roll. "See" you all soon!

Thanksgiving Crafting

I am totally in love with my Martha Stewart Crafts party crafting template! I used it to make this wonderful mobile for the corner of my dining room. So easy, yet, so beautiful!
I wanted something more than just the white of the back of the cardstock so I had to improvise. I used the Tim Holtz Distress Inks to ink up the backsides which gave me a very pretty "double-sided" cardstock. I also tried to use the Tsukineko stain in Eucalyptus. It turned out very nice and muted but it took a bit to dry. Not a good solution if you're inpatient like me. I used fishing line to tie them together with a bead between each of them. I got a grapevine wreath to hang each strand from. Paper raffia was used to hang the whole mobile. I hope you like it as much as I do. Look for my Christmas soon after Thanksgiving. Happy Crafting!!!

"Owl" be there 4u!

I am officially on an owl kick. I had bought an owl stamp from Michaels a bit ago and he's just been sitting in my stamp stash patiently waiting to be used. Well, Thursday I rummaged through my stash to look for a stamp to use to make sample color cards of my Tim Holtz Distress Inks.
(These came about as an excuse to bust open the new Fall Limited Edition colors)
I found this cute little owl.
If you think he's cute now, just wait until you see the two projects that I created with him.
Here are the sample color cards that got it all started.
Now on to the two projects. They came out of the need to use the images I stamped but messed up on the color sample cards. I couldn't let those perfectly good images go to waste. I cut them out with a small white border and came up with these projects.

This card is 4x4. The cardstock is from the Recollections Value Pack from Michaels. The inks used are Tim Holtz Distress inks in Ripe Persimmon and Gathered Twigs. The embossing folder is called Spots and Dots from Provocraft.

This next one ended up being 5 1/4 x 5 1/4. Unlike what I usually do, I actually worked backward and didn't start with the finished size. I started with the brown background for the owl and worked outward from there. Once again, all the cardstock used is from my trusty Recollections Value Pack from Michaels. The ink is from Stampin' Up!'s In-color collection from a few years back, Bermuda Bay. The word art stamp is also from Stampin' Up! The background flower stamp is from Michaels dollar bin also. I absolutely love the dollar bin at Michaels. You just never know what you'll find. I stamped the flowers stamp with VersaMark ink and embossed it with clear embossing powder. The ribbon is from my longtime growing stash so unfortunately I don't know where I got it from. It was probably from Hobby Lobby because that's where my stash started growing. The rhinestones came from Michaels also.
So here comes the surprise. This ISN'T a card! Ha, fooled ya! Here is a picture of the back.
I used the Tim Holtz easel die to cut out the recycled plastic. The ATG gun was the perfect adhesive to adhere the easel to the "card". I think Jason just might sneak away with this project to display on his new desk at work. That's okay! At least I know that he likes the projects that I make.
Okay, so the next time your in Michaels, check out the dollar spinner in the middle of the scrapbook section. You just don't know what you'll find in there that will inspire you and set you off on your next creative kick;) Happy Saturday and I hope you have a great weekend!

Finally Copic!

Hey there everyone!
I'm so excited to announce that I went to the Copic Standard Certification class on Monday. I had a great time and met wonderful gals in the papercrafting industry! The drive to Sacramento was a long one, but it was well worth the trip. I have been practicing coloring all week and added to my Copic stash. Man, they multiply so fast! I got Jason to try them and he absolutely loved them. He just said, "Now I just need more colors!". Heehee! Good news for me, I can "grow" our collection without feeling too much guilt;) Here are a few images that I practiced on since taking the certification.

I can't wait to add more colors to my stash so I can put a little more oomph into my stamped images. The stamps I used are Stampin' Up stamps. They are so adorable. Yet, another collection that I'd like to "grow". That's another story;) Until next time, if you have any questions Copic related, I am now official to answer your questions.
Have a great crafting day!

My Oh My! So many crafts...

.....so little time! I have so many ideas spinning through my head I can't get them done fast enough. For those of you who knew that I worked at Michaels, I have decided to become a full time SAM again. I've had so much time lately to play with my little ones and craft to my hearts content. So far this week I've completed 2 projects. COMPLETED! OMG...my projects usually go unfinished. I'm so proud of myself. ;). So this week I'm gonna share all of my projects with you. Starting things off is a mobile that I made using the Martha Stewart Party Crafting Template.

The 12x12 paper pad I used was from K&Company.

Here's is the finished project.

....and another pic of it....

I had so much fun creating this. The top disc is made out of foam core. I just traced a dinner late onto the foam core and used a craft knife to cut it out. I used monofilament to string the pieces together. So darn cute! I think I'll add more once I get other projects finished and "under my belt".
I look forward to sharing more with you. See you tomorrow!
Goodnight!

Some notebooks

Here are some pics of the little notebooks I donated for a fundraiser.

I love this saying on this notebook...

I learned that Zip Dry by Beacon is a great glue for paper. Thank you Marie for introducing me to this wonderful glue;)
